В программе «Творческие стажировки в России» могут принять участие американские и европейские специалисты в сфере культуры, образования, гуманитарной науки, работающие над творческими проектами в области русской истории и культуры, рассчитанными на широкую зарубежную аудиторию.
Победители конкурса получают возможность двухнедельной стажировки в Санкт-Петербурге. Финансирование стажировок (включая расходы на проезд и проживание) осуществляет российская сторона. Программа стажировки разрабатывается для каждого участника индивидуально, с учетом темы его проекта и профессиональных интересов.
Программу осуществляет Фонд имени Д. С. Лихачева и Президентский центр Б. Н. Ельцина, при поддержке Комитета по внешним связям и Комитета по культуре Санкт-Петербурга.
Впервые в истории международных культурных обменов Россия выступила с подобной инициативой — оказать поддержку тем западным интеллектуалам, которые хотят лучше ее узнать и полюбить. Участники программы из США и Европы реализуют культурные проекты, играющие важную роль в привлечении внимания зарубежной аудитории к культуре и истории России.
Партнеры проекта в США — программа Библиотеки Конгресса «Открытый мир», Trust for Mutual Understanding, CEC ArtsLink, Институт Кеннана, Генеральное консульство США в Санкт-Петербурге. Активное участие в распространении информации играют выпускники программы — стажеры 2008 и 2009 годов.
На конкурс 2010 года поступило 73 заявки. К участию в стажировках приглашены 10 американских и 3 европейских специалиста. (Список победителей конкурса 2010 года в приложении "Победители конкурса (doc)" или "Participants(doc)"
Участники программы прибудут в Санкт-Петербург 23 августа на две недели. Для них готовятся индивидуальные программы, включающие визиты в учреждения культуры, консультации с экспертами, работу в архивах и библиотеках, знакомство с петербургской культурной общественностью.
Стажировки в России и работа с ведущими российскими экспертами будут способствовать:
• Появлению в США и Европе материалов, более полно и доброжелательно отражающих культурное своеобразие России.
• Распространению на Западе информации о российских организациях культуры (музеях, театрах, библиотеках), налаживанию связей между учреждениями культуры России и США.
• Появлению новых международных проектов, связанных с популяризацией российской культуры в США и Европе.

In 2010, the Likhachev Foundation of St. Petersburg, Russia, announced its third open competition for the Fellowships in Russia Program. This program is designed for American and European professionals in the field of arts and culture who currently work on creative projects on (or related to) Russian culture or history. Such projects, supported by the Fellowship in Russia Program, should help in spreading information abroad about Russian culture among a broader Western audience.
Participants of the Program arrive to St. Petersburg for two-week fellowships in late August, their stay organized and financially supported totally by the Russian side. Each fellow will have his/her program individually tailored according to their project and professional interests.
The organizer of the program is the Likhachev Foundation and B.Yeltsin Presidential Center, acting with support of the Committee of External Relations and Committee of Culture of St. Petersburg.
This is the first Russian program of this kind. For the first time, cultural visit of foreign intellectuals are supported by Russian side. Participants of the program work on important cultural initiatives, which help to attract attention of foreign audiences to Russian history and culture.
Among the Program’s U.S. partners are the Open World Leadership Center at the Library of Congress, the Trust for Mutual Understanding, CEC ArtsLink, the Kennan Institute, and the Consulate General of U. S. A. in St. Petersburg. Alumni of the 2008 and 2009 Fellowships in Russia also help to disseminate information about this Program.
The selection of 2010 Fellows was done from a pool of 73 applicants who participated in an open competition. The selected group consists of 10 American and 3 European professionals in the field of culture, arts and arts history. They will arrive in St. Petersburg on August 23 for two weeks. They will visit (according to their individual projects and schedules) the city’s cultural organizations, archives, libraries, and museums, as well as meet and consult with experts and cultural figures of St. Petersburg.
The Program’s organizers believe that contacts between the Fellows and the Russian cultural establishment will:
• Expose western societies to the cultural diversity of contemporary Russia;
• Improve cultural ties between the United States, Europe and Russia;
• Bring to attention of foreign cultural institutions (museums, theaters, libraries) new cultural opportunities in Russia and launch new partnerships and projects;
• Promote and popularize Russian culture in the U.S. and Europe
